This was our neighbor. I think he got ran over. We found him across the road from where we live.
We have heard big cats before at our house, but never saw one. We have heard stories about people seeing them. My dad spoke to one of my neighbors who saw a black cougar crossing the road with two cubs back last year. I love living in the country, but this is a little scary. I am sure they would not bother you unless they had rabies or you had them cornered, but I will not take any chances. We live close to a cove. You can not see it from our house, but if you walk across the street and into the woods you can see the cove.
We found it very interesting to see Mr. Bobcat so close to our home. I think others found it interesting also because you could see cars go by and slow down to see this cat. One truck had people in it taking pictures.

My parents live out close to TN now and my dad told me the other day they found a big black cat out there. Not sure if someone shot it or not. Maybe they just saw it. Dad finds all kinds of cat tracks out there though. Some were HUGE!

Kinda scary that they live close to you...But oh poor him/her...
But..take care in the woods, It must be scary to meet one of them :S

that is so scary! Big cats, when hungry, will attack pets and small children, too. My folks live out west (Idaho) and we hear stories every year. :(
I've seen a big bobcat here (in Lauderdale county) crossing the road--it was at night, so of course my DH thinks I made it up. But I know what I saw. :)

PS--Duh! I didn't mean bobcat, I meant I had seen a black mountain lion sort of cat--just like your neighbor, but in my county. Stay safe! :)
